Index Card A Day at Daisy Yellow

Over at Daisy Yellow Tammy has put together a creative summer for everyone. Daisy Yellow is promoting do an Index Card a Day ( ICAD) not much space or time to sneak a little creativity in . I started about June 2 and have misplaced my early cards. My cards range from sketches to collage to water-colored . . . . in other wards anything goes. I do not have a lot of time most days but this has been working out well. I encourage everyone to give it a try. Daisy Yellow will give prompts weekly or you can do your own thing. My cards are a mix of both. A few prompts from Daisy yellow and then cards reflecting what is happening in our lives at that time.

Postcard Swap 2011 . . .

These are some of the ones that I sent out. I am having camera issues. My stand by camera down and out quit/broke etc. Then I borrowed my daughters while I searched for a new one, it does not take the same quality and I had a lot of issues like above with the lighting. I did finally get a new one but am not adept at uploading pictures yet . . . . so we wait. see i Hannas blog for more on the Postcard swap.

This was done through iHanna's Post Card Swap

Christmas Cards . . . .

This is the beginning of what is to come. I do not have an absolute end in mind, I just have vague idea. I often like to start with making a "master board" then I will cut it up, add more to it and in the end it will become something that I love. Hopefully those that receive them will love as well.
I have already added to this since I shot the photo. More to follow as I progress.

Ronald Mc Donald Love

These are the cards I made for guests to make or modify this month.
It is always a challenge, first I need to look at what is in the RMH stash of donated paper etc.. then I need to combine to come up with something I can use.

Then I need to make them simple enough for a first time stamper but interesting enough for someone who has stamped before. In the end the Guests are happy with whatever I bring. It is a simple distraction from a complicated life they are journeying through. Cell phones and Lab results become their best friends. A full night of sleep is a gift. There is a lot of strength in these people. They are from all walks of life and all places geographically.

Love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is done well. Vincent Van Gogh

Lil' Stamping

Well I finally was able to get to the area where the stamps Ink and paper are kept! It felt good, I just wish it could happen a little more often! I like this time of year, thinking about Valentines day, red, pink, purples, sweet treats, hearts, celebrating Love.
Hoping to get some more stamping done in the near future!

Field Trip Friday

Keuka Lake

Looking at rocks/skipping stones

View down the lake Southerly

Taking a boat ride.

As said before, all getting in the car is always a grand adventure. Just being together is part of the best part. So much of the time we spend working or at school, in activities that we do not get all that much "together time". Yes there is yelling and tears as someone touches someone etc.. but overall there are new discoveries to make, places to go and people to see. Today we saw several Amish Buggy's, places to pick Blueberries, wonderful Landscape Vistas, farmland in different hues of green and gold can be so pretty. Today was good food, good friends and an outstanding location!! The rain held off for the most part. Love hearing the rain on the roof though. Good day.

First Friday

First Friday of the Month I gather with about 4-6 other women to chat, share creations projects techniques and of course delicious food. We all bring a card or project to share, usually made while we are there. We have a potluck lunch with yummy food and good conversation. We gather in Penn Yan coming from Rochester and Syracuse. This is a very special creative time that I look forward to each month.
I am thankful to have this be a part of my life!

Stamping at Ronald Mc Donalds House

Here are the cards that I designed to make with guests at Ronald McDonald's House last week. I find that designing simple cards is best. When they require only 1-2 colors of Ink that is good. Simple layout is also good for people that have never stamped before and it is easier on the prep work and supplies. I also like to design something that there can be individual creativity utilized in it. So when I use double sided designer papers they have multiple pieces to choose from, they become the artist and make the choices they want. Often the designs I make can be done either vertical or Horizontal so they again have some choice in what they are doing. Combine that with choices in words to use for greetings and they have completed a custom card for their personal use. It is very rewarding to work with the guests at RMH. They are stressed out and tired and often just like to watch or talk but every now and then I will have those that want to give it a try. They particularly want to make thank you cards for them selves. I am often making cards that the Correspondence Club will send out to every guest 6 weeks after they have left the house.

Three Things

1/24/09

This is the picture of the red, white and blue Angel food cake we made for Inauguration Day it was yummy and oh so few points if you are counting them! You just take the batter and divide it up, add food coloring and put it all in your pan, bake and you have a tasty cake! You can't go wrong with an Angel cake, it is a very versatile low calorie treat.

Today I had a little play time with my Friend Nancy, we played with some new designer paper, stamps and ink. These were some of our creations. We mostly did a lot of talking.

January Driveways- full of Ice. When you back the car in it slides all over and try walking on it- your life is in peril. Late afternoons are filled with Blue long shadows. Around 3 pm if the sun is shining then there are the most beautiful long blue shadows from the trees this time of year. It is exciting as now the time of light gains quite a bit each day. The sun is setting very south west vs in the late summer it is more to the north. Tonight is is very cold, only 3 degrees right now and it is 8 pm, the sky is crystal clear. The 3 Scouts are winter camping, 2 in tents and one in a lodge. I hope they have stayed warm all weekend and I am sure we will hear all about it tomorrow.
