The Moments: #2

“Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.”
George Eliot

This BurningBush  (Euonymus alata) was a mere stick brought home in a little hand years ago- "Mommy look at my tree, can we plant it, can we plant it, Now?!!!"  Our elementary schools celebrate Arbor Day and send home seedlings. I have 3 kids and at that time, days were full in different ways than they are now.  We hastily planted it in a Whiskey Barrel Flower pot near our doorway.  The deer did not eat it and today it is a beautiful bush.  This time of year it becomes this brilliant red.
My kids are no longer kids at 13,17,19 but I love remembering that moment when I see this beautiful bush.

tyWhen I was a kid, my dad planted a Burning Bush right outside the back door of our house in Milwaukee. By this time of the year, there was no doubt as to how it came to be named.
