Last week
Last week- a little blurry when there is a whole lot going on. It was Spring break and I was working many hours trying to fill in for a co-worker and help boy scouts get ready to go on a 4 day trip to Ohio. Earth day snuck in there on us and we tried to do a little celebrating. We ended the week with a very quick trip to Howe Caverns. It was just the get away we needed. The caverns are 15-20 stories underground and very pretty. We walked and took a boat ride underground. Then we took a leisurely drive home through the Finger-lakes on Rte 20, stopped at a great place called Fly Creek Cider Mill.
The Cider Mill had all kinds of food to taste and Cider Slushies that were very refreshing, unique and yummy! We can't wait for more quick fun trips.

Spring shows what God can do with a drab and dirty world. ~Virgil A. Kraft
If you've never been thrilled to the very edges of your soul by a flower in spring bloom, maybe your soul has never been in bloom. ~Terri Guillemets
Spring makes its own statement, so loud and clear that the gardener seems to be only one of the instruments, not the composer. ~Geoffrey B. Charlesworth

Easter Eggs 2010
h
Every Year we dye Eggs as part of getting ready for Easter. We like to draw designs on the with crayons and do crayon resist. We like to try combining colors. Getting time all together this year was a challenge. We did succeed to get some done. They are always so bright and colorful, I love them as a centerpiece. Like carving a pumpkin some things you never grow tired of!!! Hoping you had a great Easter and found time to stop and color some eggs! Happy Spring.

Wood Frogs Awaken
On Wed. March 21,2010 we were out on the walk wiht the dogs when we heard what sounded like ducks quacking. I said i thought it was frogs. We kept walking and then we stumbled into this pair on the walking trail. I thought they were Wood Frogs but went home to look it up and sure enough we were correct. They are an early frog to wake up, they live in Vernal ponds which are areas that have water April through JUne. They are among the first to mate and the time from egg to frog is quite short. the coloring was very unique of the larger Female. When time has passed they both look very brown matching lead litter that is found on the ground.
