Mary's Birthday Carrot Cake
I made this for my co-worker Mary for her Birthday. I had planned to put carrots on the top in a starburst but when I took them out of the package . . . they were to big to do that so I put them on the sides and then just decorated the top for fun. Cream cheese frosting and I dyed the coconut in a baggie with food safe food dye. Happy Spring to one and all.

Tea any body?
So this was a gift from a co-worker. She is an incredibly creative and kind person. I love tea and I love Hands. There is a thin cardboard base like a record album - but narrow and then the clothes pins are hot glued onto the cardboard. She added all the tea and it could be replaced with photos. The Hands are just fun foam. My other co-worker got one like it but it had bright red lips as she cannot work with out her Channel Red lipstick . . . I thought this was really creative. Marsha my co-worker is such a hard worker, kind and gentle, a hug when you need it and always a smile and positive words. She has a lot on her plate but finds time to do such nice things as this. The world could definitely use more Marsha's in it. Thank you for being such a great co-worker! The post it hangs on is right in the middle of my kitchen - so it is front and center for a while.

50 years young
And with a New Year is another Birthday for all. January 2nd is the Scoutmasters Birthday aka dear husband . . . . he turned 50 this year and we celebrated on the quiet side after more than a week of holiday celebrations. Brunch at his moms, special breakfast at home- Homemade sticky buns and Maple Bread pudding followed up at night with Brownies with nuts of course. Brunch was the day before. Just so that you don't think we actually could consume all that in one day!!! If we did you could just roll us out . . . dinner was Sushi. A special day for a special guy. We are so glad he is here and that we get to spend every day with him !!! It enriches all of our lives.

Birthday Muse's
Some People try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved. Will Rogers
Well this is the beauty that we will be salivating over tonight. It is a Flourless Chocolate Cake which you can find the recipe if you follow the attached link to everyone's favorite baker King Arthur! My sweet husband has made this for me during a very hectic week. You see it is Pinewood Derby week in Cub Scouts and his Den is in charge of the Race. They have to have practices every night and the race is on Friday. Yoda made a James Bond 007 car this year, will post some on that later.
Birthdays - you can love them or hate them. I usually don't mind them, they come more often than I would like them too!! My favorite way to celebrate though is to do things that I like and not things I don't - ie sort socks . . . I don't need a lot of hoopla, parties and people. Quiet is ok. This morning there was a lot of hustle and bustle with all the boys. They did chores, made lunches and breakfast- Cherry swirl coffee cake, oranges hot tea, all before the 7 am Bus- it was very nice. I not only have traveled unpaved roads- I have hit a few potholes!! it is through experience that we learn best- learn by doing and it is through adversity that we really stretch and grow, so the road is not always easy and often long but hopefully the destination at the end is well worth the bumpy ride. Have a great day!! I will.

Birthdays
Here is the infamous Chocolate Wafer Cake for Yoda's 9th Birthday.
It is made with Nabisco Chocolate wafers and in this case Coolwhip but making your own Whip Cream is also yummy. You just spread whip cream between 2 wafers and repeat, then cover the whole thing with more whip cream and decorate as desired. this must be made in advance as it needs refrigeration time to get the wafers to soak up moisture from the whip cream and for the flavors to mix. It is also excellent with Strawberries or raspberries on the side. Now it is traditionally made in a log shape but recently we have stacked the wafers up vertically and made it into a round typical cake size.
Yoda's birthday this year was on a Greek Mythology theme. Trojan horse invitations, Spears and Shields for Play, Pin the eye on the Cyclops etc... We did a Mythical Gods treasure Hunt, looking for pandoras box. That went really well. So we did a kids Party at lunch time and turned around and did a family party at night. It was a full day for sure.
