Center of the Universe

Right now this is our Center of the universe. It is our only source of heat and it has been a steady 32 degrees for some time outside with a dusting of snow last night. This stove keeps us very comfortable. We can cook on it and in it. Lot's of sitting near it and knitting, reading eating drying off . . . just need a couch to stretch out on and all would be perfect!!
Love that we always have the kettle on! Tea and cocoa on demand it does not get any better than that.

When we lived in Maine we had a 1915 wood and gas cookstove that was often the center of our life. We also had a wood boiler furnace but the stove was more fun. It was especially wonderful the year of the ICE STORM with no elec. for 9 days.

Oh yes- the great Ice Storm . . . remember it well. We were able to stay warm and do all our cooking and baking- especially remember Sally Lunn bread from the oven. We had lots of visitors as well.
