Feeding the Chickadees

This park is near to us and a very popular activity any time of the year.  There is a hiking trail and if you bring birdseed, stand still and wait  you then will be treated to a visit from a Chickadee, Titmouse or a nuthatch.  The later 2 are not as common but they do get over their shyness and visit. I was lucky to catch the last one in flight. This is unique to this park but I wonder what other people are able to feed or watch up close where they live. We are spoiled to live so close.  I like the feeling of the little feet as they grip onto your hand.  My daughter likes the sound the wings make as they fly in to land. Sometimes they fight in order to get on your hand next. Squirrels both Red and Gray were all around our feet while we were feeding them.

This is my first time visiting your blog. I wandered over from... somewhere... and I had to comment on this post. We also handfeed chickadees and it is the most wonderful thing. I'll never tire of the way their little feet feel when they land.

I agree, we love the little feet the soft bellies and the fluttering of the wings as they fly all around you. It is a fun magical experience. We can also feed nuthatches and Tufted Titmice at times. Thanks for stopping by.
