Blue Bells, Virginia Cowslip
Mertensia Virginica is the Latin name for this pretty spring wildflower. It is a native perennial that prefers sandy creek side areas.
After blossoming the foliage yellows and dies away such that you cannot tell it was ever there.

Oooooooo. I love these shots. I never got to see the blue bells when we lived there.
